Built in 1999, this Charlotte home, located in Ballantyne neighborhood, had beautiful bones, high ceilings, generous proportions, and natural light, but its dated finishes and awkward kitchen layout didn’t reflect the young family’s modern lifestyle. Inspired by their travels through Italy, the homeowners envisioned a space that combined relaxed European charm with the functionality of a modern home.
Bodesign Studio reimagined the entire heart of the home, transforming the entryway, kitchen, and breakfast nook into a cohesive and welcoming space. We enhanced the existing architectural details, like the arches that define each area, while introducing organic modern and Mediterranean influences. The new design blends texture, warmth, and timeless materials to create a home that feels elevated yet lived-in.
The kitchen transformation was the highlight of this project. The previous layout lacked flow, storage, and proper ventilation, with the cooktop awkwardly placed in the island. We completely reworked the floor plan to improve functionality and balance, introducing custom cabinetry, ample storage, and a refined material palette. A natural wood island contrasts beautifully with white perimeter cabinets, while honed granite on the island and quartzite countertops and backsplash add depth and organic movement.
Lighting played a key role in redefining the atmosphere. Layered fixtures now bring warmth and a sense of architecture to every corner from the statement pendant in the breakfast nook to the soft glow from the marble sconces around the kitchen hood.
The result is a European inspired kitchen remodel that captures the essence of modern Mediterranean living.
